Karen DeMers Dowdall (K. D. Dowdall) was born in West Hartford, Connecticut.  As a child, she grew up in a beautiful farming community originally named, The Salmon Brook Settlement, founded in1680. Her family's home was located on the edge of a large forest preserve. Karen enjoyed the hauntingly beautiful forest and most of her writing includes forays into the fascination with the magic of the history involved. Karen and her family spent their summers swimming in the brook and ice-skating on a "haunted" pond in winter. Karen, her siblings, and cousins spent much of their time searching for arrowheads, broken colonial pottery and fossilized bones in the forest.  Along the way, it was her good fortune to live in the Republic of China, Saudi Arabia, and England. Each culture she experienced reinforced her belief that all cultures are rich in storytelling to explain their human hopes, dreams, struggles, and life experiences. Karen has published two fiction novels, Garrett's Bones and Delphi Altair Strange Beginnings.  She is currently working on her third novel entitled, The Witch of His Dreams to be published in October 2016 on Amazon.
