          I recently rewatched Snowdrop and found myself thinking about Young-ro and Soo-ho’s story all over again.
          
          But this time, one question stayed in my mind:
          
          What if their story had taken a different path?
          
          That thought inspired this book.
          
          It is a Snowdrop-inspired alternative version of their love story—with familiar emotions, winter nights, danger, impossible choices and moments you may recognize, but also new scenes and a different direction.
          
          I won’t tell you where the story begins to change or what kind of ending is waiting.

          When I first wrote the opening pages of The City That Knew Her Secret, I believed I was writing a love story.
          
          What I discovered along the way was something much quieter.
          
          This story became about choices, about the moments that change us long before we realise they have, and about the courage it takes to face the truth—even when it asks more of us than we ever expected.
          
          Amélie, Nicolás and Rohan have lived with me for a long time. They made me smile, they challenged me, and more than once they surprised me while I was writing their journey. Every chapter reminded me that life rarely follows the plans we make for it.
