'If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?' A friend asked me this and I just...ugh. Basically:



Me: Of course it makes a sound! What kind of question is that?



Friend: How do you know if you weren't around to hear it?



Me: Well...



Friend: Well?

Friend: See!



Me: Don't play dumb! You know it makes a sound. That's like asking 'if a dog is barking and no one is around to hear it does it make a sound?' You know it makes a sound! Everyone knows it makes a sound!
