"You know they say you should support Black writers, but then you read books like this and you understand fully why few want to. The stories are not relatable and are always something so trashy it's unfathomable. I refuse to believe this is how Black women carry themselves. But when writers portray Black women like this, I can understand why people stay away."

‼️ I don’t usually do this, but comments like this deserve to be addressed.

One book does not represent all Black writers. One character does not represent all Black women. One story does not represent an entire community.

Saying you “understand why people stay away from Black writers” because of a single book is exactly the kind of sweeping generalization that Black authors have had to fight against for generations. Nobody picks up one book by a white author and suddenly decides all white writers are the same.

Black women are not a monolith.

If a book isn’t for you, that’s fine. Critique the writing. Critique the plot. Critique the characters.

But using one story as a reason to dismiss Black writers as a whole says far more about your bias than it does about the book. ‼️

Hey, y’all! Just wanted to say thank you to everybody reading The Other Woman and The Other Woman 2 so far.

Ciara’s story is no where near done, she’s got a long, messy, healing, wild road ahead. So thank you for rocking with her, even when it gets heavy, confusing, or a little chaotic.

Stay patient with me as I continue to write the rest out. I promise I’m giving this book my whole heart. More chapters coming… buckle up!

I ain’t slept right since that night.
Every time I close my eyes, I see it, the flash, the blood on the sheets, the way the air went quiet after. Like the whole world stopped breathing just to watch me ruin mine.

I keep replaying it, trying to find the moment I could’ve stopped myself. The second before it all turned ugly. But it’s like watching a car crash you caused, you can’t look away, you just brace for the impact again and again.

They keep asking if I feel sorry.
If I regret what I did.

I tell them I don’t got words for it.
          Truth is…

You’ll have to read to find out.
