Hi, everyone. I don't believe anyone will really see this message but I believe it's really important. A priority actually.

I've never liked the establishment of the "Urban" category. I guess I don't see the logic in having a seperate category for black characters and black society where alternatively, every race and every culture could just be combined under one. Like it's meant to be. Unity. After all, isn't that what everyone is always preaching about?

What about the other races that are being excluded? Wattpad is only considering black and white society and as a member of the wattpad community for many years, I feel like wattpad isn't supporting me as much as I'm supporting it. And if wattpad would start developing other categories that are culture-based, why is white society and white characters the central focus? Why not have a Caucasian category instead of an urban one and have the majority of wattpad be centralised around urban literature? This would not solve anything, but is merely stated to express an opinion.

Reading is supposed to take you away form the darkness that the world is surrounded by, but how can we be comfortable on a platform that constantly reminds us that we belong to a certain category and that we aren't part of the majority?

I don't believe that I'm overreacting and if you agree, help get this message to the ambassadors and the handles of wattpad because this issue would make hundreds of readers more comfortable, secure and safer in an environment that they have a right to relax themselves in.

          	Kind regards,
          	Aqeelah Davids
