Midnight scene

I spot a dog in the meadow,
Graceful and gentle creature
A passerby this crepuscule
Graze on the short shoots of
Green stem and fredo's lace.

He interrupts the three cows
My grandfather's usual company,
Mining for worms and other edibles
Under the deciduous tree.

His encroachment disrupts
Their routine forage,
And sets them to a distance.

I'm glad I tasted the gust of wind whirling
Through my skin and clothes I wear,
The dog disrupts the scene.

Now they are gone,
All have scattered through the fields
To finish what they had started.
