Concept of Canopus IF
          
          First of all, I would like to make a distinction on what I consider "necessary" and "unnecessary" deaths for Baru, either from a point of character development, and personal preference. 
          I would like the escamotage of the butterflies that I came up with to hinder Ikki the least and at the same time allow him to piece together the fact that he suffers this phenomenon when the person at the other end suffers something traumatic - hence, it should not happen so often.
          
          Arc 1: death to Elsa, death to Puck freezing the slums, successfully handles Ton-Chin-Kan, meets Rein, successful loop.
          
          Arc 2: dies to curse in his sleep, is bitten by the mabeast and dies again (though Rem has no involvement), hides in the Forbidden Library so Rem is sent to the village in his stead and dies, so Ram chases him down and he dies off the cliff; victorious loop when he realizes that the owner of the dog is the shaman, and so he convinces Rem to go to the village together and deal with her: Meili escapes setting loose all the Mabeasts in the vicinity, so Rem enters Oni mode to protect Subaru and everything else happens like the light novel.
          
          Arc 3 is the first face to face meeting between the two, where Ana decides to have Ikki go to the Royal Capital with her as part of her retinue. While the "triple alliance" Subaru brokers to defeat the White Whale does just that, Ikki and his group face Regulus and Lye and manage to kill the latter and injure the former. The fight turns not only with the appearence of Capella, who not covers for Regulus' escape but manages to severely injure everyone and curse the intended targets of the ambush, Crusch and Rem. Subaru's failed loops are much the same.
          That's about as far as I go with the planning. Bit iffy on killing off Capella in Arc 4 original, spoilers of Arc 10 look like she might be masterminding some shady shit. Same goes for swapping Louis with Roy as the Gluttony bigshot.

          Ikki is summoned to a location close to Zarestia’s Bed, on the westernmost edge of Kararagi. Found by the Spirit and suspected to have been there to steal the Light Sphere from her, a confrontation ensues where Ikki is pushed to use Ittou Shura and then Ittou Rasetsu to escape Zarestia, and as the Spirit is hot in pursuit, he’s saved by Halibel and taken to Banan where he is left in the care of Ricardo and meets Anastasia and the little cats. 
          
          Ikki≥Reinhard (equal when base or Ittou Shura because of Desperado state; Ikki prevails if he enters Ittou Rasetsu and use Secret Sword Oikage. Due to being a Desperado, no Divine Protection Reinhard has or Od Laguna can grant him could kill Ikki)
          
          The connection between Ikki and Subaru will be the following: whenever Subaru Returns by Death, Ikki’s self in the timeline “corrected” by Return by Death will suffer an hallucination of a swarm of butterflies devouring him, thus “moving” him back in time. He has only cognizance that “someone” died and that the timeline “went back” to a certain point. When he meets Subaru, he will deduce that "someone" is him.
          
          Echidna and Aldebaran were together at the time of the Great Calamity, when after failing to kill Satella Aldebaran was sealed and Echidna eventually died. In the present, the unsealed Aldebaran met Priscilla and embraced the life of the knight “Al”, thus Echidna decides to summon Ikki because she knows Subaru will be summoned by Satella. Like in canon, Aldebaran immediately understands who Subaru is, but does not think Ikki may be anyone to be suspicious of, due to the fact Ikki takes great care in speaking Kararagi/Banan dialect and writes his name in hiragana.

          Ikki Kurogane was elated to have won the Seven Stars Sword Art Festival. Moreover, elated to have won it in a way that fulfilled his promise with Stella. Elated to share an experience as precious as his first time with the woman of his life.

As everybody already knows our favorite always dying GOAT Barusu is dying in more creatively horrific ways in S4. Which brings to my mind the time when I had written a fanfic starring Ikki Kurogane from Chivalry of a Failed Knight being summoned to the Re:Zero world by Echidna. 
          
          Would you like to see that story again? If so, how? Summoned to Lugunica in place of Subaru, like i had originally written? Or summoned in either of the other three nations, meaning this becomes a story similar to an IF, where lesser known characters get the spotlight, before joining up with the main story?

Hello again peeps. Now that the first trimester has ended, I will have more time to write, all I need is the motivation to do so. Putting that aside, I wanted to explain why I have purged every work but two and jot down an idea for a new fanfic. 
          I wanted to do away with the "OC Era", so I removed every fic containing a self insert and scrapped plans for fics with one. 
          For what concerns the new fic, I have been getting back into DxD recently, and I want to make a story about it.
          I will try to keep Issei as canon-compliant as possible but since it is a fanfic after all, I will add a couple of things of my own to add to his character beyond being who everybody knows and many love. Details below.
          
          The first chapter will start in medias res with him close to dying in the park, recalling his life: the "dreams of two dragons" he's had since childhood, him never having been sick, when puberty hit and his attraction to girls and passion for combat sports blossomed giving him his infamous reputation as one of the Perverted Trio, memories of Irina. This, until his head starts to ring with the insistent voice of "someone" screaming at him as Raynare taunts him, so he gets up and starts walking towards her - and this is when the Boosted Gear manifests first and Rias appears, prompting Raynare to retreat. Issei collapses, and is taken away by Rias to be healed, yadda yadda yadda;
          
          I will keep him ignorant of the supernatural until the date with "Yuuma", so cue the usual lore dump;
          
          I will make it so the Shidou family was sent to Japan because they knew Issei had a Sacred Gear, and wanted to lure him to their side by using Irina. She knew this, initially only feeling envy for Issei's normal life but warming up to him due to his kindness. Touji Shidou decided to move to England when he thought Irina had fallen in love with Issei and thus the integrity of the mission was compromised. Since then, Irina and her father have not talked about Issei.

User @ganethagb wanted me to do a comm post so here it is. I had invested a lot in Choice of Desire prior to uni and it was hard to come to terms that I had more important things to...well, care about. But those things are behind, and I intend to be more balanced in how I approach my stuff from now on - looming master's degree included.
          
          About the plot points from here on, there will be significant changes from canon taking into account the development of the story. Back then the 2nd year cultural festival was a fresh thing and that illustration of Arisu on Ayano's bed suggested something, no?
          Well, to roughly summarize:
          - Yuki is the illegitimate daughter of Koenji's father, thus making her Tsubaki and Koenji's half sis.
          - Kushida will be expelled.
          - The one tortured by Ryuen is not Kei. Yousuke and Kei break up on their own terms. 
          - The character of Tokito is significant because he will jockey with Ryuen for control of the class.
          - Koenji will significantly contribute. This will hinder Tsukishiro.
          - Amasawa will show her unstable state more directly to Kiyotaka. Takuya will not be expelled.
          - Nagumo will not be jobberized. This means that I will have to shoehorn a way to make Fuka important and that the island exam in Y2 will be different.
          - I will include character interactions between Kiyotaka and the first years and between the first years themselves. This will also include a new and improved student council, which was a nothingburger after Nagumo graduated.
          - Class standings will change relatively frequently. I made sure not to give too wide a lead to any class, maintaining Class A's vulnerabilities in the first part of Y1 and having others jockey for position.
          - Starting from Y2, I will in each chapter include interludes to signal updated OAA for some characters. I currently have the class leaders, Kiyotaka and the first years (should I say 2nd years now?)
          - Main ship unchanged.
