“Lord Byrne, step forward.” The king sat on his throne, but the command held an heir of kindness. It was a celebration. A time where they could relax and be happy for the moment and Adrien wished to honor the knight for his duty.

The new title made Ciaran's skin crawl, it was an honour and it designated him as a high ranking member of the Kings guard, but he couldn't enjoy it.

He couldn't enjoy any of the celebration when his mentor was dead and he was taking the lordship meant for him.

He stepped forward and bowed in front of the King.

"Thank you your majesty. But I'm afraid I must reject your kind offer for a lordship." He said calmly, still kneeling.

Ciaran knowing that he would get in trouble anyway and possibly beheaded decided to be honest as possible.

"Honestly, your majesty. If you were a solider you would be immediately kicked out of the training camp. I have seen boys aged 5 summers shoot better than that. Adjust your form, don't stand so stiffly, make the angle of your arm a little higher and then pull back...gently and think of a needle going through water and then shoot." He carefully placed his hands on the queen's body to adjust her shooting position before quickly removing them.

The arrow hit closer to the target. He hummed. Before adjusting the target and grabbing an over ripe apple from the tree. He leaned against the target and placed the Apple on his head.

          "Shoot the Apple." He ordered.

“We have work to do Sir Cieran. And I have quite the important job for you.”

"The leader of the Northern Ravagers." He repeated, almost quietly to himself. He followed Adrien's steps and his thoughts were swirling as he prepared his horse.

The Northern Ravagers were a group of warlords who were gaining power and influence among the great Kingdoms out of fear and intimidation, so his King wanting to meet them was slightly scary to Ciaran. Still a weird sense of pride came over him due to being chosen to accompany the King on such a journey.

He grinned slightly, he now had something to hold over Sir Moerid's head, that he was chosen instead of the other man.

He was prepared pretty quickly and waited for the other to finish.

“This is a matter of utter urgency and secrecy. The council or my wife does not know of this and you shall not breathe a word to anyone lest either of them suddenly learn about this matter.” Adrian commented as he walked quickly, his strides long and purposeful. He was wearing a dark, plain riding outfit, not like anything a king would be seen wearing. “You must follow me and help me as we meet with the leader of the Northern Ravagers.” He commented as they entered the stable.

Ciaran bowed before the King before raising and quickly following his step which was hard with his armour on.

"Yes your majesty." He said quickly before curiosity took hold of him.
            "What is the job?"

@wclfqueen
"Your majesty." He bowed before her before raising.

He hated his title usually but loved the way that both the King and Queen said it, it made him feel that he had actually earned it rather than it being used as a slur to torment him along with other monikers like 'witch boy'.

Ciaran didn't bother addressing the second part of the Queen's comment, due to the fact that it didn't want to think about it. His little sister, Isolde had gone missing and he was constantly sick to death wondering where she was.
