          I completely understand that you want to make peace with him and that some things he said or did—including the tag—upset you. I am not trying to take sides or dismiss your feelings here. But with that said, he is going through a really difficult stage in his life and is not in a good emotional space right now. Because of that, conversations with him can easily turn heated even if that was purely not the intention. Continuing back and forth will likely only make things worse, not better. So could you please just leave him be for a while? I genuinely believe it would be best for both of you if there was a bit of distance between you two for now.
