Also, totally unrelated to my rant, go bored and checked how much fanfic was in my library- it’s 3053 on Wattpad (13 years), 288 on Ao3 (3 years) and 269 on Quotev (7 years) so a total of 3610 I’ve saved, which honestly doesn’t feel like a lot for how MUCH I read but tbf a lot I don’t save and a lot have so many words they basically count as a full length book, in comparison to the discontinued books I have saved.
          
          It’s also interesting to see how despite being on quotev longer than ao3, I’ve found more fics I enjoy on ao3. 

Not done a rant like this in awhile.
          
          First; couple years back they removed the activity option (showing things you’ve voted on) which I used to rely on the find a book again if I’m just looking but not sure bout it yet, it was super helpful for me and others
          
          Second; ads, so many ads. To the point where I either turn on airplane mode and just put the book in offline mode (which sucks if it’s a book I’ve never read before and just wanna check out) or straight up just go AO3 when it gets frustrating 
          
          Third; Direct Messages, I only just learnt about the fact it got removed. Which is terrible cause there were so many DM’s from people who love my books or whose books I loved, messages I would re-read when feeling down- now it’s all gone. Like not even that you can’t send stuff anymore, I mean every conversation I’ve had on here since 2011 has been deleted. Wtf. 13 years of conversations gone. 
          
          Anyways my rant is that Wattpad for the past few years now has become a worse and worse platform to use for both authors and readers. 
          
          I’m not leaving Wattpad, but at this point I only use it to write fanfics I’ve not published (ones for myself), or to read those amazing fanfics that are only posted on Wattpad (and even then, never on my phone, because of the ads)
          
          Idk, I had always preferred Wattpad over quotev or ao3 growing up due to the layout and library you could have, now it’s 1. Ao3, 2. Quotev and 3. Wattpad. And the only reason it’s in third is because I only use these three.
          
          Sorry for the rant but I don’t use Twitter so this is where I go for Wattpad frustration rants. On Wattpad. 

Oh god, I’m 21 tomorrow, I’ve been on Wattpad for wayyyyy to long of my life, can you even be on Wattpad when you’re 21? Am I too old now?

No wifi + on airplane mode + offline stories = no ads at bottom but still keeps plain white box

Is it just my phone or does Wattpad have ads at the bottom of the screen while your reading mobile? 

Y’know when someone adds your book and you’re like ‘thank you so much for adding my book! I hope you enjoy <3’, I feel like I should do the opposite, like a warning ‘cool that you added my book, suggestion- don’t! I’ll save you the time and tell you it’s a terrible book now’
