Why all the hate on Elena. I know she fell in love with Damon. But he was there when Stefan was gone. And when he came back with no humanity. He practically drove Elena into Damon's arms. But she still choose Stefan. But you can see how she had developed feelings for Damon. When she died and became a vampire. Stefan saw her as a broken toy. That needed to be fixed. Damon made her enjoy vampirism. He gave her a love that consumed her, compassion, adventure even a little danger. And that's why she choose him.
Stefan and Elena was an epic love. They were perfect for each other. Stefan let her choose how she wanted to live her life. That was the biggest mistake. He saved Matt first,I believe if he saved a Elena they would still be together. But the part of Elena that is in love with Stefan, died when she turned. And the Elena that came back is in love with Damon.
