There are times when you just sit, and all kinds of thoughts suddenly appear in your mind. You can't stop them. And among those thoughts, you just wish that, for once, people could take your pain from you and feel it themselves—the silent battle you fight every day just to pretend that nothing hurts you.
I'm talking about those people who have a habit of putting others down just to feel superior. They forget that humans have emotions to feel. Even if they can't be there for someone, it's better to not say anything hurtful. They always come up with things like, “Oh, there you go again, complaining like a kid,” “There goes your daily drama and tantrums,” “Try growing up instead of kidding around,” or “Are you really that weak to handle basic problems?”
There are so many other things people say without realizing how deeply hurtful their words can be to someone who is trying their best to keep going while struggling with their emotions and silent battles.
Just know that your emotions are a part of what makes you human. You need emotions to experience life, understand yourself, connect with others, and respond to the world around you. Even emotional numbness can happen when a person has been overwhelmed or emotionally exhausted for a long time.
You are not wrong or weak for feeling this way. You are human, and you are allowed to feel, understand, and slowly heal.
We can't just erase people from our lives. They are going to be there, and some of them will continue to criticize you. But try not to let their words make you believe that the way they treat you is acceptable. Their words don't decide what your emotions should be worth.
I know some battles are too difficult, and sometimes words aren't enough to heal them. But I just hope you never lose hope. Keep going, even if you have to take it one day at a time. You deserve the chance to understand yourself, feel what you feel, and slowly find your way back to yourself.
