Can't believe I'm turning to Wattpad for this, but here goes nothing...
So I (19F) have a friend (16FtoM) who recently invited me to assist in his school theatre play. For context, both of us do theatre at school, but we go to different school and we actually met at a theatre festival for different schools, last year. The problem is that I can't attend the play because I've got other plans, but I haven't answered him yet. Why? Because when he asked me that, I got reminded of how badly I was treated during an anime convention (the two of us were supposed to go together, but on the morning on the convention he texted me saying that he won't come because his parents won't let him leave with all the manifestations... I know it's his parents' fault and not his, but I still cried because I was left all by myself).
Would it be petty and stupid of me to treat him the same way he treated me back then (by answering him that I will not come to his play on the morning itself)?
(I'm not going to do that either, I just want to know if I'm being an AH)

@Kokoro_Belladonna If I were you, I'd just go. Reason: If the person's not being selfish and had to not go because of something important or that their parents just didn't let them go, I'd just try to understand them. However, if they're being lazy or not supportive, why not just give the taste of their own medicine? My answer to your question is, and I'm being honest: You're not being petty or stupid or being an a-hole, you're just sad.
