          That being said, I’m transferring over a fic from ao3 (mainly cause my draft thingy is getting a bit messy and I need the official releases I have)

          From DM to VRAINS all the protags have surnames ending in ‘i’ or ‘o’
          (I’m putting the last name first)
          
          DM: Muto, Yugi
          
          GX: Yuki, Judai
          
          5Ds: Fudo, Yusei 
          
          ZEXAL: Tsukumo, Yuma
          
          ARC-V: Sakaki, Yūya
          
          VRAINS: Fujiki, Yusaku
          
          It goes o, i, o, o, i, i—
          
          Only during the rush series does it chargeback with Ohdo

I feel so confused rn T^T
          
          So occasionally when writing I usually use a combination of sub and dub names
          
          Dub for all Yu-boys (Joeri=Yuri, Ute=Yuto, Hugo=Yugo, the only one that doesn’t bother me is Yugo’s cause he kinda does seem like a Hugo lol)
          
          Dub for Sylvio (cause the name Sylvio sounds just so much like him, usually when talking about him I might just refer to him as Sawatari)
          
          I interchange between Shay and Shun for Kurosaki (BUT I NEVER USE OBSIDIAN AS HIS LAST NAME)
          
          (Zexal character since the above are all ARC-V) Ryouga I typically use Ryouga or Shark but I like combining his last names (aka Kamishiro-Kastle) idk it just felt like it and typically I’ll use that or just Kamishiro
          
          Joey’s I will sometime use Jounouchi but since DM is obviously the most watched people know him by either
          
          BUT LIKE I CANNOT INTERCHANGE SERENA’S NAME CAUSE I GET SO FRICKING CONFUSED T^T
          
          JUST EARLIER TODAY I THOUGHT CELINA’S OG NAME WAS SELENA AKA CELINA BUT SPELT DIFFERENTLY
          
          BUT NO, IT’S SERENA
          
          I SCREWED UP MY NOTES CAUSE I HAD HER DOWN AS SELENA INSTEAD OF CELINA OR SERENA
          
          ALSO WHY DID THE DUB EVEN CHANGE HER NAME, THEY DIDNT EVEN CHANGE NAMES LIKE TOKOTSU (I think that’s how you spell it) CHOJIRO AND SHINJI WEBER
          
          LIKE I HALF EXPECTED THEM TO CALL HIM CHARLIE WTV AND SHAWN
