HOW TO BACK UP YOUR WATTPAD STORIES!
Guys, this is important. You should control your work, have several dozen backups of your work, and never experience a complete "OMG! X DELETED MY ACCOUNT AND I LOST ALL MY STORIES!" meltdown. I've read those. They're not pretty.
This is how to do it. If I remember, I'll start a new work for this here on Wattpad over the weekend. That way we have somewhere else to continue the discussion. You can also use the comments.
I started to just post this on Wattpad, but I needed a little more formatting than Wattpad allows.

I KNOW how to backup Wattpad stories!!! Yes, I'm a little excited about this discovery. You can even transition them to another editor like Google Docs, Word, Scrivener, etc. with the smart (curly) quotes that Wattpad strips out.
A clean output--required for building epubs--and no copying/pasting every chapter. Plus, it backs up the comments so you can review/edit offline.
But there's a tiny problem. I'm an uber geek. Although I know this works for Windows, Linux, and Macs, I'm not the best usability judge. I desperately need testers and feedback.
I will credit testers (a link to your website, Wattpad account, and/or other social media).

Do y'all remember me fussing about Wattpad's bizarre genre system? While researching this, I stumbled across several business practices that put all of our works at risk. I delved into the first major liability in Risky Business: What Wattpad's Business Model Means for Writers. (To read, go to my profile and click the link to my website. It's on the home page.) I'll write more about this and discuss some ways that
we can protect ourselves over the coming weeks. This will be my only Wattpad post regarding this.
I'm still a bit floored by what I discovered. Some of these risks are completely unnecessary and only partially mitigated, if at all. Despite using and enjoying their platform, if Wattpad offered an IPO today, I wouldn't invest because I have serious concerns about their long-term viability.
As a writer, I included Wattpad in my long-term strategy (right under Amazon). I'm now rethinking everything.

I loved first apprentice (and stayed up way to late reading it) I also like your bio, very real life, I can relate to a lot of it especially the coffee and the dog except mine is sixty pounds and every time I sit forward he tries to get behind me and look over my shoulder

Getting closer to a sequel release here and I need a little input on the title. Check out my twitter poll or let me know below.
Choices:
a) Shadow Keeper
b) Apprentice's Fire
c) First Keeper's Shadow

@KristleLC second one , the two seem to flow better when you think of seeing them both on a shelf

@iterimpius Thanks! I'm working on it. Right now, I'm trying to get a title and cover past my harshest critic... My mom. She's right quick to tell me that my name was hers first. She just finished murdering the first draft. Seriously. Half the pages are folded and when I open them there's more red ink than text.

A riveting coming of age story about an orphaned dracon shifter's struggle to control her own fate. - First Apprentice elevator pitch

Why did I dread this? It took all of 10 minutes.

@JRT4ylor Thank you. I treated it like a crossword puzzle and the words just fell into place.

@ravendra8 Early on, I posted 3,000 word chapters...I got a lot of feedback about cell phone reading and chapter length. After I knocked the chapters down to 900-1200 words, folks stopped complaining about chapter length and kept reading. It was a bizarre experience. All I did was split up existing chapters. I didn't actually make them shorter, but it kept people happy. The downside, at least for me...I don't think of the chapters as parts. When I post a part, I have a tendency to think that I posted the entire chapter instead of just a piece of one.
