Hi:
I logged on to WP this morning & saw that u'd started reading LOVE, LUST 'N GEOLOGY, & voted for it :-)! Thank u for a great start to my day :-)!

U've taken on a difficult task, setting the goal for urself of speaking Japanese fluently. My mother was an ESL teacher. She taught English to new Canadians (immigrants) & observed that English was most difficult for Orientals to pick up. I'm assuming it works the other way around, too, namely that Oriental languages r difficult for English speakers to pick up. Still, not impossible. I've heard that a (white) Canadian - google 'Dashan' - is an enormously popular performer in China who's fluent in the language(s).

With regard to speaking a language fluently, I believe immersion is (ultimately) key. U'll have to commit to parking urself in Japan one day ;-)! I wish u the best :-)! I admire intellectual challenges! & oh, yes, sweet dreams, too ;-)!

@seema_ahmad As you thanked me for the start of your day, I should thank you for the end(s) to mine. Books like yours help me find my way to a peaceful sleep. :)
I'm a Japanese Studies major in my third year and still strugglisng to speak the language. But I hope it will be worth it one day. I'll be inclined to believe that anything is possible if I get to the point of speaking freely.
