Quick question, but how do Yu-Gi-Oh fanfic writers decide their OCs' starting hands, and also in cases of duels that never happened even in canon, and the cards they draw next? The best thing I found for it was a website that has a deck shuffle feature.

@xXSaadXx0 I make a deck on any emulator like Dueling Nexus or EDOPro and find out how I want the duel to go. Sometimes I’ll use a deck shuffler or randomizer to get ideas. Other times, especially for important moments, I choose specific cards deliberately to highlight a character’s strategy. I don't know how other authors handle it, but I aim to minimize errors as much as possible so the duels feel believable. In the past, I’ve read Yu-Gi-Oh fanfics where certain plays or turns didn’t make sense or didn’t follow the game’s mechanics, which pulled me out of the story. By approaching it this way, I can be far more confident that the duels are accurate and consistent.

Honestly, I was worried that you would bring Synchros into the story. It wouldn't make sense in my opinion since those never existed in the Gx era (I have nothing against 5ds or Synchros, but I mean era-wise it wouldn't make sense to bring them in). Still love the story so far ❤️

My first thought was to be something related to the Monster called "Lancea, Ancestral Dragon of the Ice Mountain" who is connected to the card lore of the Ice Barriers

@146128c In the future when you read most of the story, that'll be up to you since Ace will use both cards a lot. Like, people say Jaden's ace monster was Neos, but you could also say Flame Wingman, or Super Poly since he is the supreme king. It's all valid and it's up to the readers.

Levia-Dragon - Daedalus is Ace's Ace Monster, unless it was changed when the Ice Barriers were introduced into the story

Question, What did Ace start with? A structure deck? A deck he built on his own? Or what? I'm curious because for a while now, I've been considering giving writing a chance someday in the future.

It's funny you ask, because the deck he started with was THE starter deck you get from playing the Yu-Gi-Oh GX Tag Force 1 game on PSP (Beginning of Destiny for PS2). It's a cool part I added. If you haven't played the game, I'd recommend it since the character IS from that game.

@narukami35 Thank you for reaching out. I will be returning really soon. I just haven't gotten around to finishing this. I already have the rest of the story planned for season 1, I just gotta type it onto Wattpad and upload it. I got an overnight job as well which has been affecting what and when I plan. I'd say a week or 2 at most before I upload the next parts again.

@Kylexxer Thank you very much for your feedback. I tried turning my personal experience of playing Master Duel into "anime" form (I have played that game since December 2022). And Cydra is the deck that I mostly grew attached with since I already played that deck for more than 10 months. That's why my MC is a Cydra user

@cyberwyrm28 I have. I really like the Chronicle Invasion. I'm not familiar with the newer cards, but It made up for it with the storyline.
