YALL IM DONE- Hi, I've been limiting my social media usage lately. Yet, now that I branched back out to tiktok I just found out people simp for and cosplay Shihai Kuroiro (bnha class-b dude with the shadow quirk) . I haven't watched season 5 yet, mostly cause I'm not prepared for wanting to kill Hawks a third time. Yet, I have been attracted to this side character since I saw him in the manga. Why? I have no clue, I just always thought he was kinda hot and his quirk was cool as hell. But he has no actual relevance in the series since class B doesn't have much relevance give or take a couple of students. He's just plot convenience for Tokoyami. ANYWAYS the cosplay issue. The fuck? I am for one, not black, so I don't have a say here if it's right or wrong. But a general rule of thumb in cosplay is: if you have to ask if you painting your face black would be offensive, find an alternative. There's plenty of cosplayers who opted out black face paint for masks, put black gloves on, and such. Another issue with the whole cosplaying Shihai, unrelated to face paint, is people saying he's irrelevant so there's no reason to cosplay him. Okay and? You know who else doesn't have relevance and is only there for plot convenience? A good 80% of the cast. But people find comfort and like cosplaying those side characters who don't do much of anything to the plot and maybe only gets brief appearances. If we wanted to get technical, if cosplay was about cosplaying relevant and important characters, then there's many cosplayers who wouldn't be cosplaying despite having outstanding and beautiful cosplays. Anyways, thanks if you read my rant, I hate the toxic BNHA fandom with a PASSION.
