I just realised that Bill's birthday in 1973 actually coincided with Easter Sunday, which means the last chapter set on Friday is on Good Friday. In 1973, Brisbane was predominantly Christian and this was a major holiday and Holy day, so not much was open. I've unpublished the chapter to do a re-write to keep things historically accurate. It'll be up again shortly.
