∞ she felt him before she saw him.

not in the dramatic, supernatural way stories liked to tell it. no thunder, no whispering voices, no sudden collapse of the world around her. it was quieter than that. heavier. like the moment before a wound starts to bleed, when the body already knows what the mind refuses to accept.

lyra froze mid‑stride on the empty street, breath catching in her throat. the night air was cold, but this... this was different. this cold had intention. it settled into her bones like it had been waiting for her.

her fingers curled into fists at her sides. after a moment, she let out a humorless huff ( a brittle sound ) and a smile that didn't reach her eyes. ∞

          god... why am i shaking?
∞ she dragged in a breath, forcing her shoulders to square even as her pulse stuttered. ∞
i just need to calm down. i'm almost home.

∞ lyra staggered back a step, breath catching as the world settled into impossible sunlight and wildflowers. her pulse was still racing from the cold alley, from the way everything had shifted without warning. she pressed a hand to her chest, trying to steady the tremor in her fingers.

her eyes snapped to him... to the unsettling gaze studying her like she was something he'd pulled out of a dream instead of a street. ∞

            better?
∞ she echoed the word with a sharp, disbelieving laugh. it cracked at the edges, too thin to hide the fear still clawing at her ribs. ∞

            you can't just-
∞ she stopped, dragging in a breath, anger flaring hot beneath the fear. ∞
you can't just take people out of their lives like that. you don't get to decide where i stand or what i see.

∞ her voice shook. she hated that it shook. she looked around. the endless sky, the impossible warmth, the flowers bending under the weight of something she didn't understand. awe flickered through her despite herself, soft and unwelcome. ∞

what even is this place? who are you?
∞ her gaze returned to him, sharper now, steadier. ∞
            what are you?

⠀ [ ALMOST HOME? AS IF HE’D LET HER SLIP AWAY SO EASILY. THE REAPER EMERGED FROM THE DARKENED RUE OF THE ALLEYWAY, the stench of stale air clinging thick around him. his pace quickened, long strides eating the distance between them until he closed in from behind. one hand shot forward, catching her by the arm. his gloved fingers curled tight, firm and unflexible, drawing her back with a force that left no room for escape. he felt the tremor run through her, a fragile shiver that traveled up his arm, warm, unsettling, seeping into him like something alive. rurik didn’t hesitate. the world bent at his will. a subtle lift of his hand, a shift of breath, and the space around them fractured. the alley dissolved, shadow folding inward as though swallowed whole. ]

⠀ [ they fell. yet his arms had already circled her waist, pulling her close, shielding her as the descent gave way to something softer. the impact never came as it should have. rather still, the lush spread of wildflowers met his back, bending beneath the weight, petals scattering in a quiet burst of colours and scent. sunlight followed, spilling over them in warm, golden light, the air open and seamlessly endless. ]

⠀ ⠀ is this better? [ releasing her with an effortless push, he eased her from his hold and sat up, brushing petals from his coat. the sun rested high above, its warmth stark against the cold world he had torn her from. he rose slowly, poising himself before extending a hand toward her, gaze fixed with quiet, searching intrigue in his mismatched jade and grey eyes. ]

⠀⠀ why were you shaking? do i frighten you?

∞ the world didn't break when she crossed into it. it simply shifted, quietly, like a breath drawn in the dark. one moment she was running through an alley lit by flickering streetlamps, the next she was standing in a place where light behaved like it had secrets to keep. shadows stretched too long. the air tasted old. and the silence... the silence felt like it was watching her.

lyra's pulse kicked hard, but she swallowed it down. fear could follow her ( it always did ) but she never let it lead. ∞

          okay...
∞ she muttered under her breath, scanning the vast, unfamiliar expanse. ∞
          this definitely isn't the city.

∞ the ground beneath her feet wasn't quite earth. the sky wasn't quite sky. and somewhere in the distance, something moved with the kind of certainty only power possessed.

she didn't know the rules here.
she didn't know if she'd broken one just by breathing.
but she knew she wasn't alone. ∞

          if someone's out there...
∞ she called, voice steady despite the tremor she refused to acknowledge, ∞
you might as well show yourself.

∞ a figure emerged. tall, dark, carved from the kind of stillness that didn't belong to the living. the air around him bent, quieted, as though the realm itself deferred to him.

          her breath hitched. just once.
then she forced her shoulders back. ∞
          i didn't mean to trespass,
∞ she said, chin lifting, ∞
but i'm not going to run just because you look like you expect me to.

∞ her gaze locked onto his; wary, stubborn, unyielding. ∞

[the swirl of golden energy bled from the nearness of him, not seen, but felt. it clung to her skin, settled deep beneath it, until even her breath grew uneven. her eyes fell shut for a fleeting moment, as though she had stepped into water, something vast and unseen drawing at her limbs. when she opened them again, the world had shifted. lotus flowers stretched wide across a still expanse, their petals luminous beneath a sky that did not belong to earth. she moved with care, circling, yielding to his unseen guidance, as the ground beneath her feet gave way to a smooth, unbroken plane of glass, bearing her weight as though it knew her.]

o reaper.. [his gaze followed her without falter. even as the realm wavered, even as she felt herself drawn between here and there, she knew he was the axis of it. the room returned in fragments. mortals swayed with their lovers, silk and shadow entwined beneath dimmed light. the low thrum of drums threaded through the air, steady, near ritual. she turned within it, arms lifting, circling, her soul answering something unspoken. she could have sworn he had stood behind her a breath before, guiding, shaping each motion, though when she sought him, he was no longer there.]

( .. ) them dancing together sounds so fascinating to me

[she danced still, caught betwixt both worlds. enthralled not by drink, but by the weight of his presence, by the dark pull of his gaze now set upon her from afar. in the other place, he sat upon a high seat, sovereign & watching. kings and elders lined the distance, silent witnesses to something she did not yet fathom, yet felt chosen for. the space between them drew taut, though he had not stirred. ( .. ) sara ought to have feared it. there was something in the way she felt bound, drawn into something far older than herself. yet the fear twined with something else, something perilous, something that urged her onward rather than away. so she surrendered to it.] ( .. ) [bare feet met the floor in soft, measured steps, the faint chime of anklets answering each motion. others began to dance around her, drawn into the rhythm, yet she felt set apart, as though the dance belonged not to the room, but to him alone. her pulse faltered, uneven, her breath catching as her body followed a current she could not name. the memory of water lingered upon her skin, a sheen along her throat and collar, catching the low light as she moved. and still, whether in one realm or the other, it was ever him she returned to.]

/ p.s feel free to drop interactions, everyone is welcomed unless ofc you’re restricted, but to those who are not. be at ease to roleplay and et al. i will also be getting more into the magic field since egypt deals with a lot of that, and egyptian mythology.
