Lamar D. Vine is the pen name of a former civil servant who was downsized into early retirement and chose to pursue writing full time. Based in Las Vegas, he crafts raw, introspective stories about fractured lives, hidden truths, and the difficult path to redemption.
Having worked as a teenage head-shop clerk amid the early-1980s Las Vegas neon, rock music, and desert haze, Vine draws from personal experience to create psychological literary fiction and tales of sensual awakening. Sanctuary Row immerses readers in 1983 Las Vegas: a troubled teenage dropout managing a rundown head shop while family secrets and long-haired haze threaten to upend everything. His other works include Flashes of You (repressed memories resurfacing in Bangkok), You Can Never Go Back (a concise psychological romance filled with twists), The Writer (words that linger like haunting echoes), and SHE (an expat's intense emotional obsession that spirals into chaos).
Vine avoids polished or predictable narratives. Instead, he explores quiet regrets, burning questions of what might have been, and pivotal moments that reshape a person's entire life. His adapted screenplays are gaining attention on platforms like InkTip and at international film festivals, with SHE, Flashes of You, Sanctuary Row, and others currently under review or in consideration.
His sixth novelette, Eagle 12, is set to release soon. It shifts focus to daily military life in 1991 Panama, capturing the routines, tensions, and human moments of soldiers stationed there during a pivotal time in history. Vine is also outlining his next work, Echoes of Nothing, a deeper dive into absence, memory, and the voids that shape us.
Former civil servant. Reclusive storyteller. Las Vegas native searching for truth, one page at a time. All five current novelettes are available to read for free on Kindle Unlimited, because certain stories deserve to reach readers without barriers.
Step inside. You may recognize something of yourself in the neon.
