@Lars-Lion Well, it’s hard to say. I have over 10k stories in my library. I just read a lot and combine different ideas with my own writing. If you want, I can explain how I usually create my stories. First, I think about what kind of main character (MC) I want. In my DAL story, for example, my MC was cold and a bit distant from others. To justify his actions, I gave him a dark background. Second, I focus on the logic of the world. In DAL, there are wizards like Westcott and Ellen, who are pure wizards, and others like Artemis and Origami, who became wizards through artificial means such as surgery. Spirits are born from mana that crystallizes into Sephira Crystals. At their core, they’re made of mana. So I build my story around that logic. For example, with Mayuri — in the movie, it’s stated that she was born because the spirits were stressed over Shido’s affection. But that happened because he had their powers sealed inside him. The key point is “sealed inside him.” Since Y/N is a normal human without sealing abilities, I had to recreate similar conditions for Mayuri to exist — keeping spirit power in one place and adding emotional stress. The emotional stress part is easy since he’s constantly in danger, but the second part is trickier. This is a small spoiler, but… …It’s because of his A/C that the spirits’ powers get mixed inside him, causing Mayuri to be born — which is also why she calls him a “pseudo vessel.”

Third, I think about character introductions and justifications — similar to Rinne, Marina, Maria, and Rio. In the games, Rinne was introduced because Shido was dying after the spirits went berserk again due to stress. Maria and Marina are artificial spirits that exist in a simulation trapping Shido. In the game, Westcott developed Marina, and her outfit resembles Nia’s spirit form. Since those are connected, I made it so Westcott developed her using Nia’s spirit data. Rio existed because Shido wished to see Rinne again, so I made her exist because Y/N wished for a genuine family.
As for the mecha elements — I added them just to spice things up. The reason it still makes sense is because Y/N is a genius. To avoid making him seem too overpowered, I had Marina implanted into his brain so she could support him, which justifies most of his abilities.
Basically, try not to make anything appear out of nowhere without an explanation.
