I have a lot going on at home right now and I feel like it is also kinder to anyone interested in participating to give more time than less. Looking forward to reading your work!

Will there be a November 2025 edition? When will it be out? Should we submit?

LauraBrowneLambert

@Ellabeewrites No problem. I should note that the submission deadline has been extended to November 30th.

Do you write essays about literature? I’m looking to feature essays on Underground Bookshelf that discuss a wide range of literary topics. It could have to do with literary genre, a deep dive into a specific book or series, a discussion on representation, manga, comic books, romance, fantasy, a discussion about a particular author…there are so many directions you could go.

Please reach out if you’re interested. Here’s the link to the website if you’re not already familiar with it.

@jessicathewriterr Hi, there are a couple things that I take submissions for. I run monthly contests across Wattpad, Neobook, Booksie, and Underground Bookshelf (via email). The theme this month is FEELING SEEN (which can overlap with any genre, including romance).

I also accept submissions to Underground Bookshelf on a rolling basis. In both cases (contests and general submissions to Underground Bookshelf), I currently accept poetry, short stories, flash fiction, short memoirs, first chapters, and excerpts. The word limit is 2,000 words. More details can be found in the contest books or on the Underground Bookshelf website: https://www.underground-bookshelf.com/

This month is DISABILITY PRIDE, and so is the theme for our writing contest! Short stories, flash fiction, poetry, microfiction, short memoirs, and first chapters are all welcome. The word limit is 2,000 words. Submissions should reflect the theme, disability/chronic illness. This means the story could be about disability/chronic illness or it could mean that an important character happens to have a disability or chronic illness even if it doesn't impact the plot. Please reach out with any questions or if you need a deadline extension.
