BIO:

Laura Newman is a several-time winner of the Reno, Nevada News & Review Short Fiction contest. Newman is an American Marketing Association and Addy Award winner. She is the 2012 recipient of the American Advertising Federation’s Community Contribution of the Year award. Her work has been boycotted by the Catholic League.

Parallel to Paradise: Addiction and other love stories is Newman’s first book of short stories, published by LeRue Press in Reno, Nevada. Included is a story about a Catholic girl contemplating an abortion; a gay boy growing up in the Wild Wild West; a WWII soldier who can only save his mind by singing; and a mother of a heroin addict. P2P makes the ordinary askew.

One of the stories from Parallel to Paradise will be appearing in the Huffington Post’s 50 Fiction series this Spring.
