The raging battle was heard throughout the forest; the sounds of screeches and claws were too great to be ignored. The ground was stained crimson with blood, and soon the river was as well. Twigs and thorns raked Stonestar’s pelt as he raced down the slope into his camp. Cats were everywhere; StoneClan and PebbleClan alike. That’s when he saw Pinepuddle being pinned down by Pebblestar. His deputy was struggling fiercely, but Pebblestar won’t let him go.
“No!” he shrieked and rushed over. At that moment, Stonestar didn’t care if Pebblestar was his brother, he had to keep Pinepuddle alive. He’s next to lead! Stonestar’s heart was racing when he finally stopped at Pebblestar, who loomed ominously over the StoneClan deputy, his claws above his throat, his eyes gleaming with satisfaction. Stonestar pulled his brother off of Pinepuddle, his claws digging into his flesh. Pebblestar stumbled a few fox-lengths away, trying to regain his stance.
“What has gotten into you? Why did you have to disturb the peace of the Clans?” Stonestar yowled, loud enough for every cat in the camp to hear. Abruptly, the fighting stopped, but Stonestar barely noticed the rigid camp. He instead glared at Pebblestar, his anger clouding his thoughts. “Well, what do you have to say for yourself?” Out of the corner of his eye, Stonestar noticed Pinepuddle scrambling up from the ground. “There was no point to the battle, and you tried to kill my deputy!” Pebblestar looked down, so Stonestar continued. “Every cat knows the warrior code, and you, a leader, tried to break it! You should be ashamed!” No cat moved, their eyes watching the quiet leader, pricking their ears to hear how he would reply.
“I’m sorry brother,” Pebblestar suddenly stood straight, and his eyes narrowed. “But I must fight until I have nothing left. PebbleClan will be the most feared Clan in the forest! The other leaders will respect me instead of you!” Pebblestar spat. Then he faced his Clan. “Kill until there is nothing left!”
