I definitely would write it that way—though I think I would write Trevor’s repressed sexuality in terms of intimacy in many forms, rather than orientation (mainly because I feel like the coming-out thing is getting too predictable now). Say his parents wanted him to remain that golden boy and date someone who’s “respectable” (regardless of gender) and keep him in that purity cage.
