We've had some good questions come up in our messages and we would like to announce the answers.
We do not allow Mature books in our competition. It's been stated in the rules and we were asked for clarification on this. We don't allow what Wattpad believes is Mature, which the guidelines can be found here: https://policies.wattpad.com/content
Secondly, we have seen this question pop up in other competitions and want to clear it up before it is asked of us: We only judge the first five chapters of your submissions and do not let writers decide which five chapters are read. When you submit your work to agents in the future, your first five chapters are what will be read, sometimes not even that much.
Because we focus on giving feedback to those who enter, we want to focus on the chapters that are most likely to be read by agents and potential readers to make sure you get the readers you're wanting from this website.
We do not allow categories to be switched. Our categories are based on what your labeled your book as per Wattpad's genres. This means if you put it in the Fantasy genre on wattpad, you are expected to submit your story to the fantasy category of the Leonis Awards.
Judges volunteer their time and expertise in genres of their choice. We trust them to know how to judge submissions based on those genres, so we don't want our writers to get bad feedback simply because the judge didn't understand the genre. This is why we have that rule in place, again, to make sure you as a writer get the best quality feedback you can get.
