"Holy Rome..." He tossed and turned in his bed. 

For decades, the little Italian has waited for the love of his life to return from the war. Austria and Hungary have kept him locked up in his room for reasons that not even they could tell. Italy always wondered why this had to happen so quickly. Just after Grandpa left him, he was bullied by his older siblings, his lover: Holy Roman Empire, and many more. But being bullied never stopped him, and neither did his loneliness. 

He always tried his best to smile for everyone's sake. He didn't want to fall like his grandfather, and he didn't want to end up in danger again either. The best things in life are to be cherished with happiness and that is what he has done for the past century; for the sake of his love and dignity, Italy has never given up his fight for true happiness and warm welcomes. 

"Ti amo Holy Roman Empire..." He mumbles in his sleep as he clings onto his woven pillow.
