@LittleHarryfreak as much as there has always been some amount of politics in eurovision, at the end of the day the best song always won. It pisses me off that Israel almost won due to blatant political voting because that's not what eurovision is about. Not to mention that if Israel wasn't in the competition, people who voted for them would've voted for different countries including Sweden and they would've done a lot better. I'm from the UK and I voted for Sweden because the song was really good and the performance and staging made it so much better. It definitely deserved 2nd or 3rd in my opinion (I did love Estonia) or even 1st because I preferred it to Austria. Can people just leave their politics outside of my favourite contest?? If I wanted to watch politics I would've pulled up Keir Starmer and Rishi Sunak's debate from last year's general election thanks. The whole point of the contest was to unite countries after WWII and people are dividing it again by focusing on politics and not on music. Even the hosts hated Israel getting that many votes. As a brit I felt that Remember Monday's song and performance was the best we've sent in over a decade (excluding Space Man) and I found myself siding with the juries and agreeing with the points they were giving out (not just because it benefited the UK) but because the good songs got points. Although we didn't deserve to win we deserved the left hand side of the board and to get 0 televotes because people were voting based on politics? It's an absolute pisstake. (Also side note it really annoyed me that when Switzerland got nil points from the public vote the hosts took a moment and asked the audience to slap for the Swiss entry but just didn't give one when we got nil points but that's a whole other rant) sorry for this massive paragraph of a rant but I just needed to get it out of my system. Point is I don't care what your political opinions are but just keep it out of eurovision because it doesn't belong here.
