As the topic of sexualization of F1 drivers has been increasing more and more, I’ve decided to remove my story 'When We Were Us' (Lando & Zoë) from Wattpad.
This story was my very first one, and I’ll admit that I really enjoy writing spice and that I explored that a lot in this story. But after thinking more about this topic, I also have to admit that, especially with Lando and Zoë, I went too far.
Fanfiction should stay fanfiction - and to me, that means building a story around the characters and telling a fictional narrative. With Zoë, I feel like I lost that focus.
With 'When 2 Worlds Collide' (Maia & Lando), I feel like I’m doing that much better. Yes, there is spice in that story as well, and there probably will continue to be, but personally, I feel like it represents the kind of fanfiction I also enjoy reading about other people and fandoms - story-driven and character-focused.
Nevertheless, I want to make one thing very clear:
I do not, in any way, intend to sexualize Lando or any other real person who is represented as a fictional character in my stories.
