I'm 30 years old and I've been writing poetry for as long as I can remember. I've never really let people read them before, so this is very new to me. To allow people to read such vulnerable and raw things that are so real and personal was something I never thought I'd do, and then I found myself speaking so much about how it's so horrible and sad that mental illness, self harm, grieving, etc is so stigmatized and shamed but I was part of the problem by keeping my poems about those exact things so hidden and private. So I decided to be part of the change that I wanted to see in the world so badly by letting everybody into the deepest, darkest, bravest parts of my mind.
