A YEAR AGO . . .

"Wait! Not yet," Lizbeth took another breath before speaking. "We've been planning this for so long, do you think it'll survive out there?"
Worry and doubt were wrapped around each word, only to make Marí rise from her seat. Now talking a look at the most important person in her life, she spoke.
"We're not just about to sit here and be discouraged by uncertainty.," she was determined and firm. Placing herself back on the chair, she reached out for her Liz's uneasy hand. "Hey," her voice was soft this time, "I know it's a big step for both of us (writing will never get easier), but we have each other, remember?"
Liz gifter her best friend with a warm smile. "That's true," she chuckled a bit.
"Besides, a big part of writing a story is having a story to tell and we have enough ideas for half the world population to write books about." They both laughed at that last part and then looked at the computer in sync.
Liz sat straight and looked at the screen with a flame no one, not even herself, could put out. In the push of a button, the book would be out; part of them would be out. Both their minds became flooded with overwhelming thoughts, however, these two were nowhere near surrendering.
"Okay... Ready?" Marí held the mouse.
"I was born ready," Liz responded more secure than ever.
Even though the sound of a click made both girls lose their shit, there was no dignity in backing away after posting their first book.

PRESENT . . .

The atmosphere was finally clear of tension. Liz and Marí had planned to meet in the same place where they took the best decision of their lives. It was still unbelievable how well the book was doing, even after facing instant regret the second they published the damn thing.
"We really made it, huh?" Marí said as she took in all the memories.
Liz nodded happily. She took a sip from her cranberry juice and spoke. "Oh, honey, the readers won't even know what's yet to come."
