The ONC is finally over, and we got to see the amazing winners! A Spell Too Sweet was not among them, but it did make it to the shortlist, and I am beyond happy with that.
Now, I did promise I'd update with the edits as soon as the results were out, but I got so busy with life that I didn't even have time to read (or draw, hence why I only have graphics prepared for a third of the chapters ) But hey, later is better than never, and today is that day. I'm sorry in advance if the mass updates are going to trigger a lot of notifications, but I just want to get it all done in one swoop and have the cleaned-up version available already.
I hope to be out of this busy period soon and get back to reading your lovely stories, and also start writing properly again.

@LizzieAuburn A Spell Too Sweet was recommended to me in *absolutely* glowing terms, and I've had it in my library ever since. I hope to start reading it in the coming few weeks for sure. So, very happy to hear that mass updates are in store! Look forward to seeing you around. ❤️

Not one but two? Damn girl
LizzieAuburn
@karinberry My goal for this year was to complete two entries, but I got so swamped with work that I didn't get to write much... until this night. 80% of what's available in those first chapters was written in the last 18 hours But now I'm finally free to relax and catch up with my reading. Expect to see me in your comments (after I sleep a little)

Hi! Thanks for the vote XD are you joining ONC this year? Please tell me yesssss
LizzieAuburn
@karinberry I am! My favorite joke is telling people that I was born last century in Transylvania (which is all very true) and wait for them to call me a vampire. I'm sadly not a vampire, but if you ever need help with anything related to Romania, I'm very available :D

@karinberry Hiii, I was going to comment, too, but got distracted with work :))) I'm so excited to read your story! I love a good vampire story, and the guy's name just jumped out to me (I have soooo many people named Nicolae in my family; none are vampires, as far as I know XD) Yesss, I'm definitely joining the ONC, too! I was planning to try for two entries this year, but with how my outlining is going so far, I might have to stop at just one XD

My name is MadisonCiabattari and I love reading A Spell Too Sweet. You chose a beautiful cover for your story and I wrote a fantasy book called Naima and I would appreciate if you would read it and I also love your profile.
LizzieAuburn
@MadisonCiabattari Hi Madison! I'm glad you enjoyed A Spell Too Sweet, and thank you for adding it to your reading list. I'm happy to meet a new fantasy writer, and Naima looks to be just my kind of ideal read! I promise I'll check it out as soon as I get a little free time (probably during the weekend).

I've been off Wattpad for quite some time, but things have finally settled down in my personal life, so I can get back to reading and writing to my heart's content.
The edits for A Spell Too Sweet are also finally done, and they will be released as soon as the ONC is over, together with the new cover! If you'd like to see the cover in advance, I talked about it and shared pictures in the latest chapter of my writing journal: https://www.wattpad.com/1538948275-the-auburn-files-writing-journal-3-story-chats-a
Now if I can just get myself to write consistently, I might have a sequel novella ready just in time for the Ambys.
Do you all have any fun plans for the summer?
LizzieAuburn
As a small update on things going on behind the scenes, I am halfway through editing A Spell Too Sweet! With a little luck, I should be ready to update it all in one go around the end of May. (I was not prepared for edits to take so much more energy than writing the text itself though I need to plan better next time.)
And in other news, I think I settled on a definitive cover concept for A Spell Too Sweet (and its sequel - yes, the sequel is happening, and yes, I'm actually doing a proper outline for it this time). I might post some WIP pictures in my journal book one of these days, as soon as I have some more presentable versions.
Speaking of my journal book, I dropped a really long and rambling chapter about A Spell Too Sweet there, with some random facts and the initial plan vs. final version. If that's in any way interesting to anyone, you can read it here: https://www.wattpad.com/1520447585-the-auburn-files-writing-journal-2-story-chats-a

Hi Lizzie! Thank you for the follow! Hope you don't mind that I followed you back. It's a pleasure to meet you here on Wattpad.

@AnnSepino Hi Ann! Thanks for following back. It's a pleasure to meet you, too, and I'm so happy to connect with another Fantasy writer. Your stories look marvellous, and I can't wait to get some free time so I can check them out! ^_^

Well, it's done. A Spell Too Sweet is officially marked as complete and submitted for the last round of the ONC (and not on the very last day, for once)! I'm currently working on editing it, and hoping to update it as soon as the judging period is over.
For now, though, I'm going to take things slow and try to catch up with my reading. Speaking of, I'm looking for more light-hearted fantasy stories to check out, so please leave a comment if you have any recommendations!

@LizzieAuburn oh no, i reaaly do. Yours is the only story I read for ONC that makes me grin for being too cute lol

@karinberry Congrats! I was hoping you would complete it in time, I love the story so far and it deserves a chance to compete in the final round. Good luck! Oh, and please don't feel pressured to read mine if you're not enjoying it. It's pretty messy at this stage and *really* needs some thorough editing.

A month ago, I was talking on here about my last-minute effort to get a second entry to the Open Novella Contest. Well, I'm glad I made that final stretch because, to my great surprise, A Spell Too Sweet ended up being one of the winners for the first round of the ONC!
And now, with one day left to submit to the second round, I am yet again falling on bad habits. I might have just written two chapters over the weekend to make the 8k cut. But they were amazing chapters (at least to me, and I'm usually pretty critical of my own writing). Also, I find it a little ironic that, just like me, the MC in the story is also struggling to figure things out in time for a contest of her own :)))
I have to be honest though, I was hoping to have much better progress this month, but things don't always work out our way, so sacrifices had to be made. The Rune-Bound Heart is going to go into a hiatus for the next month, as I'm going to concentrate all my efforts on completing A Spell Too Sweet.
I will need someone to yell at me if I don't produce two new chapters every week, please.
