A month ago, I was talking on here about my last-minute effort to get a second entry to the Open Novella Contest. Well, I'm glad I made that final stretch because, to my great surprise, A Spell Too Sweet ended up being one of the winners for the first round of the ONC!

And now, with one day left to submit to the second round, I am yet again falling on bad habits. I might have just written two chapters over the weekend to make the 8k cut. But they were amazing chapters (at least to me, and I'm usually pretty critical of my own writing). Also, I find it a little ironic that, just like me, the MC in the story is also struggling to figure things out in time for a contest of her own :)))

I have to be honest though, I was hoping to have much better progress this month, but things don't always work out our way, so sacrifices had to be made. The Rune-Bound Heart is going to go into a hiatus for the next month, as I'm going to concentrate all my efforts on completing A Spell Too Sweet.

I will need someone to yell at me if I don't produce two new chapters every week, please.

Is it 1 AM where I am? Yes. Did I just publish two chapters of a second potential novella barely hours before the ONC form closes? Absolutely yes.

Life has been giving me a hard time lately, and I have been adulting very hard, so I deserved a little treat. Yes, staying up late writing is a little treat, and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one this applies to. I am very excited for this one, as I finally get to write a little romance (unless the writing muses oppose me again).

It's a little late in the month, but there is still time to sign up for the Open Novella Contest.

It's been a dream of mine to actually keep up with the ONC (not to win, just to complete a novella), and this year I hope to finally achieve it. I have two projects in the works, and one of them is already out: https://www.wattpad.com/story/389626288-the-rune-bound-heart-onc2025

There is no schedule this time, as new chapters will come out as soon as I finish them. Also, keep an eye out for my second ONC project, which I'll try to post as soon as possible (hopefully before the form closes :))

The last chapter of A Day for Drowning Dragons has been published today, so the story is now complete! It should be a quick read for anyone interested, although a bit less cozy than A Day for Feast and Folly. I'm working on the rest of the series, but I'm a slow writer and with ONC just around the corner, it's going to take some time until a new installment will be ready to publish.

Feel free to share similar stories in the comments of the last chapter, so readers have something to check out in the meantime!

Happy New Year once again!

I sure don't swing by here often. Every year I hope to change that, and every year, life gets in the way. But maybe 2025 is going to be different.

And to start off strong, I have finally completed the rewrite for the second story in my Feast and Folly series - A Day for Drowning Dragons! What I intended to write as a short story turned into a novelette, and there are nine parts of it. The first part came out a few minutes ago, and a new one is going to be published every day until we're through.

Hi, @LizzieAuburn! I was just wondering if you'd want to check out my new contest! (There are prizes for grand winners, honourable mentions, & even participants :D)

@EmilyTheBunnyQueen Hi! So sorry I haven't seen this earlier. I took a loong break and I'm just now trying to get back into things. Your contest looks great (and that participation sticker is beautiful!) but I won't have the time to join this month. I'll be sure to join next month, though ^_^ Thank you for creating this opportunity for other writers. ❤️

Happy New Year!
I've been having a bit of a hard time writing over the past year, and while I'm still going to try and finish a novel, I decided that 2024 is going to be my year of shorts. So if I can manage to write one short story every month, I'll be a happy human.
Of course, I'll be eternally grateful if anyone is willing to hold me accountable.

If you happen to read this, what goals did you set for this year?

I might not have the time and energy needed for the complete re-write I'm planning for the second half of A Day for Drowning Dragons, but I still felt like doing something.
So in yet another surprising resurrection, I am bringing to light a short story I wrote years ago, but never published. It's a pretty different style from what I usually like to write, but it has its merits. If you want to check it out, you can find it in my short story collection: https://www.wattpad.com/1380414003-spell-after-spell-short-stories-beyond-the-iron

Heyo. The past half year has been a bit of a wild ride for me, but I'm finally back and ready to take up writing again.
And what better way to start than reviving my own favorite short story?
I wrote A Day for Feast and Folly three years ago, and it's been on my mind ever since. So this week I published it, together with the first part of a sequel. I hope to eventually work my way through a whole series of short stories in the Feast and Folly universe, so stay tuned!
But for now, check out A Day for Feast and Folly for a quick and quirky read: https://www.wattpad.com/story/349161089-a-day-for-feast-and-folly-feast-and-folly-1
