The story begins at Holy Cross Mission where I was a Peace Corps teacher in Bolahun, Liberia, in West Africa.
Afternoons we had tea on the screened - in porch at the monastery. So it's natural that mission teachers, workers, and monks would have talked about a baby brought to Holy Cross Mission in the middle of the night.
For that scene I included names of real friends, who once worked there. I was the character known as "Perk."
There really was a Brother Kevin. Real people inspired many of my characters.
My experiences in Africa are woven into the story.
I notice you voted for Sweet Surrender, written by a friend. HIndia discussed her book often as she wrote it.
