Michael Dolce: Poet, comedian, writer, orator, and educator.
I began my study of the arts long before my formal education, supplementing my bachelor's degree from Eastern New Mexico University and private training with practice along the way, writing my first poem at the age of ten. I have written screenplays for 48 Hour Film Festivals, received the honor of best screenplay for "All the Right Tools," and published my poetry in various venues including collected volumes; "Zero the Clown and a Lovely Garden of Flowering Weeds", "Desire & Dust", "Slap & Tickle", "Magic & Malarkey", and "69 Sonnets". Four of my plays have been staged, the most successful of which was "Trial of God", and I have acted on stage and in film for 37 years.
However, these achievements don't bring me the pride that wells up when I express my love of teaching, a craft I have cultivated for nearly 20 years. It's been almost exclusively middle school, which is completely appropriate. Want juveniles taught? Send a juvenile in to teach them.
When I'm not working in the arts, investing in children, or sharpening my zany and macabre wit, I delight in hiking scuba diving (when I get anywhere near water), travel, champagne, cigars, and love. It's truly a beautiful life.
