I'd thank 5sos for helping me back up at my darkest moments. This sounds typical, but they are my sweet escape from my troubles and worries. Watching 5sos' live concerts, makes me sad because I know I'll never see them. Gosh, they're my whole world in 4 people.

Whether you are a young kid or an adult, this disorder can attack on both men and women. On average, there are about 1 million aussies who have been targeted with depression. The chances of a person getting depression is 1 in 5 for women and 1 in 8 for men. It's still today's most common mental illness a person can experience in their whole life time.

Normally how it starts, is when a person brings back an awful memory or is reminded of a tradgic scene (It can also be the cause of lonliness and stress as well). This leads on to the victim thinking about it a lot, they have their minds wishing and regretting in their own little world. This is why people who have depression act differently, than normal. They are so induldged in their own world, they forget about the real one. It's a huge distraction in school and at home. Keeps you locked up in your room for hours, and away from the happiest things. Inside their world, you'll find that their biggest bully is themself. It's very difficult for depressed people to be free from sadness. You'd think escaping your own thoughts would be easy, but to them it's the hardest thing to do. Sometimes it goes to the suicidal note, where they find it's the only way they can actually escape.

Depression is a long term mood that lasts much longer than a typical sad faze. It's stops people from seeing the happiness in enjoyable moments, and makes concentrating at work/school a whole heap harder. The ways you can find out symptoms of depression; is when you've realize you've been sad non-stop for more than 2 weeks. That's beyond the line.

It's completely okay to have depression!
But it's not okay when you go off telling yourself the wrong things. I believe everyone has potential, and absolutely EVERYONE can get through anything. It's all about having faith in yourself. If you take a moment to step out it, you'll realise the only way to get out of depression is to Change your situation. If you are unhappy, figure out what can fix it! It's up to you if you want to fix that hole in your heart. I know it's hard, but you have to toughen up. Use all the strength you have, it's up to you if you want to live a life of sadness or not. Write it down if you have to!

The only way to cure depression entirely for a person, is to fix their brain's ability on how it displays mood. Another way of saying it is; change the person's perspective of life. And of course you can't let them do it by themself!

Did you know: Most depressed people that have broke free, have had help from peers, parents, friends and councilors.

The saying; "There is no proven way a person can recover from depression." is incredibly un true! When you recover, in some people's cases, they all wake up to a new day. You'll realise it all in a second when it happens, this is based upon the environment around you. Statistics show, if you change the way you live it changes your perspective.

BUT- for serious depression disorders, antidepressants can be used in order tto treat the illness. Keep in mind every person is different, as well as their prescription. Antidepressants help depressed people by making them feel better, they relieve the symptoms. When the drugs are taken, it's believed to make the neurotransmitters' chemicals increase. The neurotransmitters are an important chemical in the brain, they transmit information across the synapse. The lower it's levels are, the less information the brain and body recieves.

MEDICAL INFORMATION!

The imbalance of hormonal chemicals in the brain is believed to be the cause of depression, according to medical doctors. The amygadala, the thalamus, and the hippocampus are 3 important areas, in the brain, that display the most activity during depression.

            It's all about the mood.

            The Hippocampus
Inside the Limbic System, this region of the brain is corresponding to spatial navigation and memory. One of the parts in the brain, that processes fear and reminds you how to act. It's associated in the medial temporal lobe, right below the cortical surface. Research suggests that the hippocampus stops the reproduction of neurons when a person is stressed. Chnages of mood is linked to depression, with the hippocampus. They believe a person's mood can only go up when new nerves grow and form connections. But if a person is stressed, or more likely un happy, the neurons stop producing cells which lessens the mood levels.

            The Thalamus

Under the cerebral cortex, the thalamus controls your sensory perception and your motor functions. Your behavioral reactions, speech, movement, and learning style comes from the cerebral cortex. Experts say bi-polar disorder comes from the thalamus being damaged. The sensory part of it all, lines up well with the miserable and pleasant feelings a person experiences.

            The Amygdala

Also part of the limbic system, the amygdala is rested in the temporal lobe of the brain. This important brain mass is connected with emotions a person feels when they recall emtional memories. They hold every emotion sorrow, anger, fear etc. The amygdala's activity level gets higher when a person is deeply depressed.
