(SPOILER FOR VOLUME 1/2—IF YOU'RE CURRENTLY READING IT, IGNORE THIS POST.)
Hi.
I've been thinking about something recently, and I just have to share it with you.
While I've been reworking the writing for Volume 1 of WMLA and developing Volume 2 of WWBA, I've been quietly thinking about the beginning of a potential Volume 3.
And, to be completely honest with you, sometimes you have to know when to stop, to seal the final fate of our characters.
I think it would be a mistake to consider a Volume 3 in a context as sensitive as that of Volumes 1 and 2.
And, even though in Volume 1 the ending can be considered canon because, in its final context, Monika achieved her goal (the liberation of the literature club) I didn’t want it to be that "simple" by abandoning all the “lore” and "psychological" aspects of the characters.
The internal struggle each character faces deserved more depth. More explanation. More complexity.
Volume 2 will be there for that.
I officially consider the end of Volume 2 to be the definitive conclusion to the development and growth (or lack thereof...) of the literature club.
However, if you have any questions, doubts, or concerns (regardless of whether they're about Volume 2 or the development of Monika, Sayori, Yuri, and Natsuki) please don't hesitate to ask. I'm here to answer them.
I know that Volume 2 took a rather surprising plot turn regarding Monika's development (dysphoria, body change), but I think it's a theme I'd like to continue exploring (and because the lore and the ending of Volume 1 force me to address it).
That said, I've never really heard your thoughts on this, so if you'd like to tell me what you think, please do. I might be able to provide more explanation regarding this choice.
Thanks for reading.
I think I've said just about everything now, though I can't go any further for obvious reasons; I’m thinking of those who've followed me this far, who deserve a bit of context and some answers.
See you soon,
- Ludicin
