I made a prologue for my upcoming book lol
Here it is
CRASH! Earthquakes shook the ground as trees fell all around some small, drenched creatures. A large tree slammed into the ground, and multiple, weak, cheeps were faintly heard inside a covered hole, barely noticed above the harsh gales.
Many doused shapes sped along the damp meadow, and only one flew down to the tree. The said bird darted its gaze around the tree. Occasionally letting out reassuring chirps to the trapped chicks inside.
“It will be alright, just wait for your mother, okay? I’ll stay here,” She murmured as she spotted a hole under the fallen tree. The dove decided to squeeze in and hunker down for the storm.
After a few hours, she opened her eyes, looking around. A cold, wet feeling had seeped through her feathers and chilled her to the bone.
Water.
Water was everywhere.
The chicks were silent. They’ve probably been silent for a while.
The dove squirmed back out of the hole, spread her wings, and attempted to flap out of the water. She sank lower.
She was going to drown, with no one knowing about her deth.
Her wings stilled, floating down to her sides. How could something be so heavy but act so light?
The dove looked back up.
Back to the surface she would never be able to reach.
She watched as the fading light turned into the bright sun.
As her waterlogged wings began to soar.
As she started to fly.
“Whispering Hallow!” A call echoed in front of her. She looked around, curious.
That call was Echoing waterfall, her m8.
She opened her beak to answer him, but water had filled her throat. The sun vanished, and she fell back into darkness.
The last thing she heard was an agonized wail.
“Whispering Hallow, my m8 and the messenger of the Flocks, is ded!”
