M.A. Barrett was a reality television and commercial producer, a screenwriter, a director, and an editor before she got the hell out of Hollywood as fast as her little Dodge Neon could drive her. She spent a few months researching octogenarian culture as a stowaway at her grandmother's double-wide in a retirement community in New Hampshire before settling in the Commonwealth, where she promptly grabbed her boot straps and became a waitress.

Before she schlepped burgers, M.A. won a Student Academy Award, a New York International Film Festival Screenwriting Award, worked on an Emmy Award winning docu-reality team for the Discovery Network, and her written works have appeared in such anthologies and publications as, The Huffington Post, The April Perrenial, and GenX: In Our Own Words.

M.A. now makes her way in Somerville, Massachusetts and has workshopped at Grub Street, The Loft Literary Center, and The Writer's Room of Boston. Most recently her novel, VIRAL, was a juried selection at The Work Conference in New York City.

If you have questions for MA or would like to book her to speak at your campus, film club or writer's group, please email her and ask. She likes to talk. A lot.

Thanks for taking the time out of your busy day to read a few of her words.
