Just a quick question. Does it matter how many words each chapter should be? Is there any "desired" limit or some "unspoken rule" about it? I can't write past a lot of first chapters for this reason, because I don't want each chapter to be too long or too short. Opinions of readers and writers are greatly appreciated! <3

@MKPrin8 Thank you! I've been hitting the 1500 mark and sometimes 1200 and it has always felt small and big. I feel better knowing a baseline. Thank you!

@MKPrin8 1500-2000 is a good baseline. I tried 4000 word chapters and all except serious oldschool readers agreed it was far too long. After some research and questioning I came to the conclusion that 1500 - 2000 was the most digestible figure for books of darker more serious tones while 500-1500 was preferred for more lighthearted books such as comedy and romance. I personally write each chapter as long as my art direction requires but then revise while searching a point I can split it. Write according to what the story requires and think about size afterwards. One of my chapters is only 300 words because that was all it required while some are 2300. What the chapter needs to convoy and portray must be done correctly and satisfactory according to the author first and foremost
