I had intended to finish SCM during this pandemic, I know. But I haven't updated the book. This is due to a lot of mental stress.
A lot of my cousins and family members are doctors and hence are at the frontline fighting COVID-19. They are risking their lives trying to save others, their spouses, children and parents are at risk by association. I have just lost my uncle, a very gentle and loving soul, to this virus. He was a doctor who refused to stay home and not do his duty at a time when he was needed the most. His wife has asymptomatic corona. Another of my uncles is in hospital, also fighting this disease, his wife, daughter, son in-law and granddaughter also infected but thankfully recovering.
There aren't enough words that can explain what we are going through at this point, especially when we cannot get together to mourn or take care of each other and live cities or countries apart in many cases. We have had to leave the care and funeral arrangements in the hands of strangers.
And along with the grief and worry, comes the anger. At the stupidity of the people who refuse to stay home, refuse to take this pandemic seriously, refuse to even believe in this pandemic. At the audacity of those who think shit that isn't necessary for their survival is worth more than their lives, their family, the doctors who end up having to treat them and their families.
Why not just stay at home? Why not just think instead of believing whatever something some stupid person is saying on TV or social media?
This is not a joke. There is no distinction between gender, age or race. This pandemic is taking many to their early graves, leaving behind a slew of grieving family and friends.
Just think before you do anything, Is it worth it?
