@EvelynHail Thank you for your lovely comment. But don't be sad. I was so happy just to make it to the long list. I was not expecting anything at all, given the small amount of time and total lack of sleep, I was amazed I was even able to put together anything that resembled a story, much less have anybody want to read it. I had told my daughter, Wedge Tail Eagle, who is such an amazing writer and I am so ecstatic she made it to the short list, that I would enter the ONC with her, not realising at the time my husband was going to be so sick. But I did complete it and I am proud to say so.
What I am so surprised is that your 'Dana Ilic and the Shadow Door' was not on the Short List. This book is incredible. Your story is so entertaining. Are you going to enter it in the Wattys? Or have you got other stories that you are considering, or even maybe writing a whole new story for the contest?
My reading may be sporadic but not because I am not enjoying your story, and I have every intention of finishing it. It's just the luxury of reading is not something I have a lot of time to do. At this moment, my husband needs to be cared for. Maybe later I will get to have the privilege to re-edit my first attempt and then write the second book to the Storyteller.
