@OwainGlyn Thanks, Owain I am in UK again until near the end of Jan. Joy will come over in mid December, after her teaching term ends. I just started to trawl through my work again.... with a view for selecting stuff. Maybe my taste has sharpened now my ego is more quiescent and I can see past it a bit. Hope you are OK yourself, Owain :)))

If it says I am publishing poems, I am not. I am re reading my stuff...occasionally editing and occasionally putting back a poem I'd taken back into drafts.

Well, the old lady's innings was two years longer than that of my old mother. Even though it was coming and we see it coming, death is always an astonishment. The world seems now even more precipitous in its slide to parody.

Yes, of course the British Empire was a brutal racist exploitation of the known world, as most empires have been. It utterly impoverished India, starved millions to death, and left a legacy of deep bitterness between India and Pakistan. And, certainly, Modi is as you say. However, I think we are coming at different things from different angles. Parody and travesty are not quite the same thing, although I am as willing to discuss the latter as much as the former.

@MajorSeventh it's not about being related, but you know, the whole colonialism thing that she presided over, however powerlessly or not. to call her, who millions spilled blood to gain freedom, her majesty, just felt like a cruel joke. indians didn't reject trump, it was just some kids, in fact indians love trump, someone actually made a temple to trump here, and modi did a big ass rally for trump in houston before the last elections to gain/retain the indianamerican votebank. trump is nothing in comparison to modi. trump makes a fool out of the system, but modi (and shah) are literally becoming the system.

I don't think it parody that Indians feel for her death, since her subjects in Uk are not related to her either, but I am not going to play that game of monarchy any longer. I was a one queen man from birth, but that has passed, monarchy may too.
Indians rejecting Trump is also a good idea but to my mind you already have your parody here: Modi and his religious snake oil and religious bigotry Nazi loving party.
