I love stories where the fantastic and the impossible confront everyday life.  I love characters struggling with dark pasts, curses and forbidden desires despairing of ever reaching the light.  

The first story I'm posting--"The Cold Still Heart"--is a novella in 19 chapters set in the dark world of the original vampire detective, Forever Knight.  

Now I'm writing a series of metro magic stories called Sleepwrecker. The setting is Los Angeles, and the fantastical that intrudes into this already dangerous world is Jinn. My dream plot is this: 

          Character who thinks she knows it all confronted by the inexplicable.
          Character, devastated by upheaval in world view, seeks rescue.
          Character, resigned to being utterly on her own, seeks answers.
          Character, rejuvenated with knowledge, embraces the fight.
          Character, confronted by an overwhelming, undreamt-of evil, sacrifices everything to the final battle--
          --which unlocks from within the character the magic to become the ultimate savior--magic that she had all along.

I hope to achieve that with Sleep Wrecker.
