As she walked towards the gate, shutting her phone off as she tells the people she was texting that she had to go, she had this... weird feeling.
Now, this feeling was nothing new. She got it when her best friend died many years prior due to cancer, when her nana died due to cancer, and when another one of her best friends died in a car crash.
But, it persisted unlike usual, as the feeling would usually go away in a matter of seconds.
She shrugged it off and sighed as she sat in her seat, quickly connecting to the plane wi-fi so she could continue writing her books.
She jolted seeing a buzz from another one of her best friends, the newest one, a non-binary pal named Josh.
It broke her heart to see that text that they sent.
“Hey Keira. As you may know I have been inactive recently. I would like to tell you why.
A few months prior, I was diagnosed with Cancer. Brain cancer.
They said I might not survive.
I wish to tell this to everyone but I am not able to use my phone for long enough to tell everyone.
I am sorry Blue.”
The girl started to cry as she read this.
“O-okay Green. I will tell them all.”
She woke up after that, only to find that very real message on her phone.
“GreenColorfulGalaxy: I.... I have Cancer.”
It was real.
