Ok, I just... I cannot understand when people don't accept other people's sexuality or gender identity. If a guy is telling you he's a girl, she's a damn girl. If someone is gay, do not making him straight. And if you're doing it, specify that you're aware of his decision!!! I'm tired of seeing fan fiction of gay famous people with them as straight, and pretty much the same vice versa. If you'll change their sexuality or gender identity you need to 1) specify that you know AND accept the person's decisions 2) Do not disrespect those decisions.
Sorry for how harsh it sounds but really, a lot of people learn about famous idols through the fanbase and the stuff they draw/write. If you write a gay man (woman, non-binary, whatever you want) as straight, you're giving the wrong description. If you write a straight man as gay, you're forcing an image into someone else's brain which means they could and probably will always see them as gay... The whole "he says he's straight but we know he's gay" has broken friendships. If you won't notify the reader about the change you decided to make about a person's decision, then don't write at all.
Thank you so much for your time,
Trini, your classic nerd.
