I believe that you don't have to know a lot of extrordinary words to have the talent to write.  All you need is the little words you know, then it's your level of maturity that defines how good your book is. The more you read, the better your books will be. Not coz of the words you get out of them but coz of the maturity a book leaves you with after you've read it. It opens a whole new world. A better one! ;)
