Piano music, rain on the concrete
A grey, wet, city winter –
smoke intermingles with fog across the rooftops of small and modest houses
through the tops of the pine trees –
their dark green shaggy tips heavy and perfunct.
A conjunction of the outer city reaches beneath
The young winter darkness – a consummate shadow of evening
over molted grape leaves and rotted stalks and the red contrast of dogwood.
my smoke a dissipation of higher notes

It's getting colder... Writing season is here! I am jumping back into Invited Guests - this week. The chapter I am working on is tentatively titled Cracks - and focuses on jealousy, insecurity and possessiveness.

Here's a line I wrote last night: "Want is a strange black pearl. But a pearl needs a grain of sand – a foreign concept – something other - the aspiration of desire. "

Anybody else diving back into the trenches?

Updated/New Chapter: Uninvited Guests - "12.Etymology of Magic #44"

"Fall 2038 - Chapter 44: The key laying on the table between Sia and I glint in the low light of the bar, I nearly laugh as I think back to my morning with fresh paint and rooms like new doorways into different chapters. A precipice. And here was Sia with a small thin treacherous pass. Eve with the apple from my past – come to present me with alternative doorways."

Updated and revised new chapter for Invited Guests: Nectarine kisses https://www.wattpad.com/812438100-invited-guests-part-14-nectarine-kisses

"My body burns between them, my thoughts and words do not belong to me but the fire. And then Adam kisses me. Large hands and lips pulling me away from Sia's reassuring embrace. Careful at first and then with purpose, demanding – insistent. She lets me go, pushing us together. His tongue parting my lips, his hands running across my body to my hips and waist – covering Sia's hands with his own and trapping them against my thighs. He kisses me. Sia holds me as I crumble and discover I am an utter stranger to myself"
