Marissa is a writer, artist, and advocate for healing, whose life is a testimony of God's grace and restoration. After experiencing a childhood marked by instability, trauma, and profound loss -- including the death of her mother -- she later faced toxic relationships, addiction, and deep mental health struggles that brought her to her breaking point.
At her lowest, she encountered God in a life-changing way that set her on a path of healing, freedom, and transformation. Through faith, recovery, and commitment to rebuilding her life, she found not only sobriety, but peace, purpose, and a renewed sense of identity.
Now, she is continuing her education while pursuing her passion for helping others feel seen, understood, and not alone. She finds joy in singing, reading, photography, and various forms of art -- creative expressions that have become part of her healing journey.
Her debut memoir, Becoming Myself, is a powerful reflection of how God can redeem even the most broken places and turn pain into purpose.
Her short story, A Daughter's Lament, is the in-depth story of the loss of her mother.
