@YoungWriters: No, I haven't ... but thanks for being a fan! 
          I am also pretty memorized by that whole eras thoughts and values, the mindset of the oppressed and the oppressors ... 
          The whole thing reminds me inexplicably of, and excuse the fantastical allusion, Harry Potter. 
          It deals with a known evil (Voldemort and his followers) who all believed to have the right view about things ... That's probably where some inspiration was drawn from.

Hey,
          I just read your story, and.... I LOVE IT!!!  It was very moving, I *sniff* nearly cried...
          Have you ever seen 'Its a Beautiful Life'?  Its a great movie and CLEAN!  Thank heavens.... But anyway, its about a man much like Benjamin who sacrifices everything for his family -- even though they are confined in a concentration camp -- and is ultimately lost to a Nazi gun.  
          I especially like the part in your story when Joseph takes the high road and picks up the shovel -- perhaps because my favorite character in my story is named Joseph(!)  I'm also interested in mind-set of the Nazis themselves.  Did they really think that what they were doing was right?  Was Hitler really a psycopath (sorry I don't know how to spell that)?  I saw a documentary on that once.
          Anyway, I really enjoyed your tale.
